Fresh Five: This Week’s Top Indie Tracks
Each week, our fantastic music directors pick the top five tracks from various genres to make your search a lot easier.
This week, we are featuring our top indie tracks from our music director, Sarah Ponder.
Indie releases are all about vintage, throwback feel borrowing sounds ranging from 80's Shoegaze and Synth Pop to 90's Grunge and Pop Punk. They are great for source music and nostalgic advertising projects.
Sarah has had a unique and passionate interest in music for as long as she can remember. Some of her earliest memories consist of dancing to 80s pop vinyl albums including the Flashdance Soundtrack, Wham!’s Make It Big, and Michael Jackson’s Thriller in the living room with her parents. Based on that early love of music, Sarah became captivated by various forms of artistic expression including visual art, film, television, literature, and dance. Throughout the last decade she has worked in entertainment, music supervision, licensing, sales, A&R, and event booking. With the desire to expand her experience and develop a diverse skill set, she has worked in the music department in reality television, movie trailers and independent features. These passions aligned wonderfully for her at APM where she could explore and cultivate her love of music and cinema. Sarah is a tea fanatic so when not in the office she can be found sipping one of her latest varietals, watching films, listening to records, or hiking somewhere in the California desert, forest, or local mountain range.
