The APM Music rate schedule is available from an APM Music Account Executive. The fees outlined in the schedule are based on the type of production, the specific rights needed for the production and the number of times music is used. 8. Are your CDs available for personal use?
The APM Music library is a professional library of music available for a fee for editing and synchronization into audio and audio/visual productions. Over the years, we have received many requests from the public asking if our tracks are available on iTunes and other such sites for personal listening, not for editing into a production. In response to these requests, we have selected some of our tracks and have put them up onto iTunes and other similar sites. It is important however, that we are clear about the different rights being granted:
- Personal listening-If you find one of our songs on a legal download site (such as iTunes, Amazon MP3, et al) and wish to download that song for personal listening into your iPod, iPhone or some other MP3 device, you may do so once you have paid the fees to that site. This download does not convey any synchronization rights and the copy of the file downloaded cannot be used to edit into a production.
- Synchronization-If you wish to use one of our tracks in an audio or audio/visual production, you may do so, subject to having an agreement with us. Once you have a synchronization agreement with us, you may download tracks from our website at www.apmmusic.com/myapm and use the tracks in your productions, subject to whatever limitations of use may be in your agreement.

9. I USED LOOPS, SOUND FX OR MUSIC FROM AN APPLE PRODUCT, DO I NEED TO PAY YOU OR REPORT THIS IN A CUE SHEET? OR, COULD I GET YOUR HELP WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT THE TRACKS?
No. Even though we created some of the tracks featured in iMovie, Final Cut Pro and Garage Band, these tracks are owned by Apple. It is our understanding that these tracks are not registered with any society anywhere in the world and that you are free to use them without any payment to anyone. If you need further information, please consult the user agreement contained within the Apple product in which you found the tracks. If you have questions about the products mentioned above, please contact Apple directly.

10. WHERE CAN I FIND MORE INFO ABOUT THE NOTIFICATION I RECEIVED FROM A VIDEO I UPLOADED TO YOUTUBE?
If you’ve received a notice from YouTube stating that APM Music or Rumblefish (on behalf of APM Music) owns or controls the content in your video, this FAQ is for you. It will explain what the notice is and why you received it.
GENERAL POINTS
Question: What is a YouTube Content ID Notice?
Answer: This is a notice you receive when a video you’ve uploaded contains content, either
video or music, that YouTube identifies as being owned by someone else.
Question: Why does this happen?
Answer: Content ID is a technology that exists for three reasons: (a) it allows content providers to identify when videos incorporate their content, (b) it allows YouTube to generate revenue by placing advertising next to content that has been included in the Content ID program and identified in uploaded videos (this revenue is shared with Content ID partners such as APM Music and its composers); and (c) this revenue stream allows YouTube to offer its video sharing service for free.
Question: If APM Music owns the content, why does the letter in some cases mention Rumblefish?
Answer: APM Music uses Rumblefish to administer YouTube’s Content ID system processing on APM Music’s behalf.
Question: I own the video I recorded, not you!
Answer: That’s basically right, but read on. YouTube, Rumblefish and APM Music ARE NOT CLAIMING ANY RIGHTS IN THE ORIGINAL VIDEO FOOTAGE YOU CREATED. The YouTube Content ID system asserts claims relating to APM Music’s content that you most likely have included in your video. The original video is yours, subject to APM Music’s rights in the music in your video which remains APM Music’s, in other words both parties retain ownership of their separate creative property.
MY VIDEO CONTAINS MUSIC I LICENSED FROM APM MUSIC
Question: I licensed a track or tracks from APM Music which included the right to post my video on YouTube. Why did I get a copyright notice from YouTube?
Answer: If you licensed one or more tracks from APM Music which includes the right to post your production on YouTube, you're 100% legal and good to go. You have done nothing wrong by using the song you legally licensed, and your video will continue to stream from the YouTube website in all territories where YouTube is able to operate. The YouTube Content ID system sent you a notice because it has identified, via our partnership with YouTube, that your video in fact includes a song from APM Music. Just as television networks place ads on their programs in order to be able to pay for the content they broadcast, YouTube uses its Content ID system to identify content on its system in order to compensate copyright owners by placing ads next to videos that include that content. You've done your part by licensing the music from APM Music, and the notification is simply a confirmation from YouTube to you that it has identified the content contained in the video. There is nothing that you need to do. If you have questions regarding the placement of advertising in or next to your video, please contact APM Music at

and we will get in touch quickly. Alternatively, you may contact your APM Music Account Executive. In your email, please make sure to give us the URL for your video, relevant information about your license and the best way to contact you.
Question: I licensed a track or tracks from APM Music Music which did not include the right to post my video on YouTube. What should I do?
Answer: Contact your Account Executive at APM Music and they can work with you to ensure that you are licensed for Internet use.
Question: What if I dispute the claim that my video contains music from APM Music?
Answer: Your video should not be taken down because of a claim in relation to APM Music content. If you believe one of the following facts to be true, you should dispute the claim and it will be reviewed within 48 business hours: (a) the YouTube Content ID system has misidentified the music in your video as a song you did not include in the flagged video, or (b) you feel you own the identified music content that has been claimed outright and have not designated a third party to claim and monetize the content in the YouTube Content ID system. Once we receive notice from YouTube, we will review your claim. If your video does not contain music owned by APM Music, we will release the claim.
Question: I don’t want advertising in or next to my video.
Answer: YouTube provides a free video sharing service for hundreds of millions of users. The way that YouTube generates revenue to pay for the service is via advertising on pages where content has been identified as being owned by a YouTube partner. Supporting the Content ID system helps keep YouTube free for everyone. If you properly licensed a track from APM Music, and you have concerns about the advertising next to your video, please contact APM Music at

VIDEOS CONTAINING MUSIC PROPERLY LICENSED FROM AN APM MUSIC AUTHORIZED RESELLER
Question: What is an APM Music Authorized Consumer Reseller?
Answer: From time to time, APM Music authorizes others to sell its music directly to the public for personal, non-commercial productions. Rumblefish and its website Friendly Music is one of those companies. This agreement allows them to offer music owned by APM Music directly to consumers for prices much lower than APM Music’s normal costs, however, this license does allow for the placement of advertising next to or in your video so that APM Music can continue to provide licenses to consumers at low prices.
VIDEOS CONTAINING APM MUSIC WHICH YOU DID NOT LICENSE
Question: I posted a video containing APM Music but did not license the music myself. What is the meaning of the notice I received?
Answer: There are hundreds of thousands of videos on YouTube containing music from APM Music from many different sources. The YouTube Content ID system sent you a notice because it has identified, via our partnership with YouTube, that your video in fact includes a song from APM Music. Just as television networks place ads on their programs in order to be able to pay for the content they air, YouTube uses its Content ID system to identify content on its system in order to compensate copyright owners by placing ads next to videos that include that content.
Question: Is there anything I need to do?
Answer:
- If you used our music in your video and your video is for personal, non-commercial purposes, please go to www.friendlymusic.com, search for the track, and buy a license.
- If you used our music in your video and your video is for professional purposes including Film, Television Show, Advertisement, Trailer, etc., please contact APM Music at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 323-461-3211 to acquire a license..
- If you posted a video that you got from somewhere else, for example a TV show or movie, the notice you received indicates that that video contains music from APM Music. In this case, there is nothing you need to do relative to our music.
Please note that in all three scenarios above, YouTube and APM Music reserve the right to generate revenue from the placement of ads around your video, and APM Music reserves the right to block your video at any time in the future if the video has APM Music tracks/music content which has not been properly licensed.
SUMMARY
Question: If I have additional questions, what should I do?

11. I'm a composer and I would like to submit my music. How can I do this?
Thank you for your interest in writing music for APM. While we are the licensing agent for our various libraries, we are not generally involved in the actual music production. Because of this, we suggest that all composers send their inquiries and submissions directly to the addresses of our individual libraries who are active in the United States in production.
