Jay began his musical career as a professional classical musician, working as a freelance trombone player. After completing an honours degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, he regularly played with the Liverpool Philharmonic and BBC Northern orchestra’s, as well as with bands such as The James Taylor Quartet. 

Around 1995 he decided to develop a growing interest in composition and now works full-time as a composer, music producer and mix engineer. He has a private studio situated in a mews in Clapham U.K. where he also runs the music production company Vinylizor Productions.
